About Open Book

Open Book is a community-oriented and community-owned gathering place serving the North Shore area of Milwaukee at 4093 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

Opened on November 7th, 2009, the bookstore owes its existence to the hard work of many volunteers and the support of over 900 members and counting.

We have a wide selection of new and used books to choose from, and if you don’t see the title you are looking for, our booksellers will be more than happy to order it for you.

Along with the ideas on our shelves, we’re looking to make Open Book a lively place, propelled by an on-going program of book clubs, discussions, performances, and other events.

Throughout the day, visitors can come together in our lovely café over a cup of coffee or tea provided locally by Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company and bakery products provided by Broadway Bakery. So if our comfortable couches and chairs make you sleepy, you can “perk” right up with a cup o’ joe.
